Settings Truths:

- Aliens are weird and rare, and you don't want to talk to them.

- Humanity is incredibly diverse; sometimes almost alien.

- Humanity's problems are self made; reflections of itself.

- Much technology is forgotten, and easy to mistake for magic.

- Life is valuable, and weapons are lethal; surrender is a strategy used
  by most Humans.
(Alien aprex predators, Killer AIs and Crazed Cultists are another story...)

- The setting calls back to the 1970-1990s, the medieval ages, and our time.
